Building an Expanding Network of Circus Pioneers.
So far 48 teams in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Ethiopia are facilitating the culture of joy and fun to educate and heal.
Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Bangladesh
We have established and capacity-built 38 independent youth teams in Afghanistan, 6 youth teams in Bangladesh (including 3 in Rohingya refugee camps), and 3 in Ethiopia. These teams in different degrees are being supervised, supported, and further capacity-built as members of our network to continue their activities. The activities include various social circus and social games as well as different arts and social skills.

Ethiopia
In an innovative pilot initiative, MMCC has teamed up with its dynamic Ethiopian partner organization, “Bright Star Ethiopia,” to introduce its transformative pedagogy and establish three vibrant Social Circus teams. Remarkably, within a mere four months, this collaboration has given exceptional results – nurturing a pool of nine dedicated trainers and empowering over a hundred junior artists. Together, they have delivered a captivating total of 18 performances, for thousands of local spectators. Setting MMCC apart from typical Social Circus organizations is our commitment to long-term impact. Rather than staging brief performances or workshops and departing, we remain deeply engaged. Our approach is rooted in sustainable strategies that empower local stakeholders. Every endeavor is carefully designed to be both accessible and effective, embodying a seamless integration into the community. Our work stands as a testament to the extraordinary potential harnessed by children and youth when supported by their own communities and guided by mentors and facilitators. The foundation of our success rests on fostering trust and collaboration, allowing us to unlock the talents and aspirations of young individuals.
Afghanistan
We facilitate, supervise, and support 36 youth team leaders in 18 provinces who are running weekly social circus activities for over 2000 children. The 18 provinces are Kabul, Nangarhar, Bamyan, Khost, Herat, Balkh, Laghman, Ghor, Badakhshan, Daykundi, Nooristan, Kapisa, Parwan, Paktia, Logar, Kunar, Kunduz, and Helmand.
The activities include various social circus and social games as well as different arts and social skills. The 34 team leaders independently work closely in and with their local communities and are supervised and mentored by our higher management as part of our Movement of Hope project. To view their Facebook accounts click on their logos. (Please note that some of the teams for different reasons have not been able to regularly update their FB). At the moment there are 4 new team leaders mentored who have applied to join the network and soon together with the existing network their membership will be reviewed. Bangladesh
As part of our expansion strategy, we recently started Social Circus activities in the world’s biggest refugee camp in Bangladesh. In a two weeks visit, we introduced MMCC’s activities and trained a team of 12 young trainers, including 3 youth from the hosting community. The youth, with our local partner, are now in the process of forming 3 children circus teams in different parts of the huge Kutapalong camp, which houses almost one million Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. 55% of these refugees are children, who all need hope, fun, laughter and educational shows. The current short pilot project is financed by CISU (Civil Society in Development from Denmark) and implemented in partnership with a local NGO, KOINONIA. The aim is to build a base with the short project while looking for additional longer term supports to keep, sustain and expand the new activities in Bangladesh. We are currently looking for donations to support continuation of the activities in an expected funding gap when the short term pilot project ends.
